Giving BACH: A Benefit Concert for the Coffee Connection

  • Historic Calvary St. Andrew's Church 68 Ashland Street (corner of Averill) Rochester, NY, 14620 United States (map)

Ad Hoc Music's next adventure will be a performance of the charming and witty “Coffee Cantata” by Johann Sebastian Bach, along with Bach's lively Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 and a set of Renaissance dances. The concert will be a one hour, free program, followed by a reception.

The Coffee Cantata is the comic story of a young woman who loves drinking coffee and manages to outwit her father's plan to give up her favorite caffeinated treat, including the line, “If I couldn't, three times a day, be allowed to drink my little cup of coffee, in my anguish I will turn into a shriveled-up roast goat.”

The Coffee Connection provides employment training and job creation for women in recovery from addiction and as a not-for-profit business sells fair trade, organic coffee to retail and wholesale customers. In partnership with Project Empower, The Coffee Connection provides comprehensive, continuous support for women on their journey toward sustainable recovery.
