Musica Spei presents music of the medieval and renaissance periods chosen to display a variety of musical moods appropriate to Lent, as well as pieces intended for performance during more joyous seasons of the year. Featured works include the Lamentations by Robert White as well as motets by Byrd, Lassus, Gallus, and Dufay. The performance is accompanied by meditations on the music: brief presentations addressed to the audience by the singers themselves interspersed throughout the concert, designed to lead listeners to better understanding of the music, so that all present might truly celebrate the sounds of this otherwise “Silent Season.”

A reception will follow the Saturday performance.
